04.06.2010 - Version 6.4 is available for download
WeGolf 6.4 is available for all platforms. (iPhone will be available in 1-2 weeks) The main new feature in the release is integration with Facebook
It is now possible to share your scorecard live on your Facebook Wall.
To share score live: In the Scorecard from the options menu select "Share Round + Facebook" to publish live.
To share an already played round: Select "Rounds" from the main menu. From the options menu select "Share Round + Facebook" to publish.
A link to your scorcard will be placed on you Facebook Wall.
You can also access and configure your Facebook account from the Tools Menu.

WeGolf for Android models is now available for download. The Android version is exactly like WeGolf for Nokia and other models.

New features - Locate the courses closest to you. Under the Course->Download there is a new option that allows you to locate the 100 courses closest to your position. Courses are sorted closest first, and makes it faster and easier to find the course you are looking for. Requirement: you need a GPS in order for WeGolf to know your current position. If you do not have a GPS this choice will not be visible in the menu.
The new version also includes a search feature so that you can type in the 3 first letter and search for any course worldwide.

New features - Automatic calculation of green center. You do no longer need to plot the center. Plot front and back of the green and WeGolf will calculate the center automatically. Note this will not be visible on the map or in the course data, only distance will show when out playing.

If you have a license you activate this by following the 3 steps below. Your account will then be automatically opened, for the duration of the license key you are holding: (Dont have a license, purchase here...)
1. Go to WeGolf main menue and select TOOLS

Most phones comes pre-configured for internet access, but with some operators you might need a slightly different settings in order to connect to the WeGolf server to activate your license, download courses or post your results.
In most phones this is called WAP(Nokia / Sony Ericsson), proxy (Samsung) or APN (BlackBerry)-settings.
Operators and phone manufacturers offer automatic setup services where you can download and install the settings using SMS push. We strongly recomment trying this option before start manually editing of settings.
Below you can find some of the most common causes of problems.
Most Nokia phones will come pre-configured. If you still cannot activate your license, free trial, or you are not able to download any courses you should check the following.
1. Download the latest WAP/Internet settings from your operator, alternatively use the Nokia configurator site.
2. If you are sure you have the correct settings open the settings manually to turn OFF the use of a proxy. This is mostly applicable for perators in the UK, Australia and the US.
Most BlackBerry models will come pre-configured. If you still cannot activate your license or free trial, or you are not able to download any courses you should check the following.
1. That you have the correct APN settings Selct Options -> Advanced Options -> TCP/IP
2. Your corporate phone settings. IT Policy or Firewall is blocing access to the WeGolf servers
If this is the case try to reset the default firewall prompts in Application permission's
Path: Options -> Advanced Options -> Applications -> wegolf -> Edit default Permission's -> Reset all Firewall Prompts
In some rare cases it might be needed to do a hard reset or upgrade the firmware the BlackBerry, then reinstall WeGolf before you configure your work email etc.
Some users have company phones, for those users its important that port 30080 is open to be able to download courses etc.
Trouble with activation - SMS sending
If you have problems activating your WeGolf copy, i.e. your phone finds the SMS number, but is not able to send. Please send an email to WeGolf and we will create a personal link to take you past this.
Sony Ericsson comes pre-configured from store. If you need to update the WAP settings you can get these from your mobile carrier or you can go to the Sony Ericsson web site and get it there.
The Samsung Instinct from Sprint is not compatible as it has a specially designed operating system that has limitations in support for Java programs
Verizon has for unknow reasons blocked the use of the GPS in some BlackBery models. Therefore WeGolf, and other 3'rd party applications will not provide you with the full set of features. If it looks like its working with navigation software it might be that this is using the cellphone base stations to approximately pinpoint your position.
Problems sending or receiving SMS to register
Some operators / phone models will experience problems sending or receiving SMS for download and registration. In this case fill in the form below and we will register you without using the SMS service. This registration is free and can be used by both WeGolf members holding a licese as well as users wanting to download the 14 day free trial
